Advertisements and Brochures

Advertising often places certain limitations on design - as was the case in this series of designs.

1 Opening New Media Age Advertisement - OAL's first advertisement was deliberately obscure. Readers were forced to take notice of the advert and investigate to discover more. OAL's website gained a considerable boost in traffic from intrigued potential customers.

2 New Media Age Continuation Advertisement - intrigue only works for a limited time, and so this brightly coloured advert was designed to grab attention. Careful consideration was given to other advertisers on the same page so that OAL's advert would stand out above the rest, both in quality of graphic design and using colour to contrast with the competition.

3 Black & White Kemps Advertisement - sometimes colour isn't an option as in this case. Areas of organic shades of grey were used to differentiate key elements of the advertisement copy.

4 PDF brochure (first page) - Acrobat PDF Reader has brought a new medium for advertising. OAL's business model was internet based so it made sense for them to save printing costs by having a PDF brochure designed that could be emailed to prospective clients. Whilst PDF brochures aren't a replacement for printed brochures they are a useful addition to a marketeer's armoury. Please note that screen-based PDFs have different technical requirements to printed PDFs and cannot be successfully used as a replacement - especially when print quality is an issue.
